Native of Tubrid, Ardfert, County Kerry. Born in 1937. Went on scholarship to Idaho State University in 1957. Member of Donore Harriers. 1964 Irish Olympian over 5000 m.

Coached in California by famed coach Mihaly Igloi in 1961.

Broke Irish records 13 times on the track and won 12 National Track Titles and 7 Cross-country Titles
