Training that is complementary to the activity. Hill work, running up sand dunes. This is weight training for running. You don’t stop and lift barbells or do press-ups in the middle of a race??? Doing this type of work as part of winter program, October to April.

Hills buy you time. Group training brings you on, as you work to suffer as a group. But is still fun.
